How to search the archive

How do I access the archives after subscribing?
Once subscribed you should be logged directly into the archives search page.
How do I find what I am looking for in the archive?
- Search the archive using keywords and date ranges to locate articles where you are not sure of the date
- Browse the archive by clicking the Browse button if you have specific dates you would like to research or read
Can I access births, deaths and marriages in the archives?
If the BDM's were published in the papers you will be able to find them here
I can't find the event on the date it happened.
Please note that events will be reported the day after they actually occurred, regarding events from earlier time periods, remember that the news may have only being reported several days later due to communications at the time
Some dates are not available in the archive.
This can be due to Bank or National Holidays or indeed newspaper strikes, however in some cases the original archive material is not available for digitisation.
When I look at scanned articles in Text View, some of the text is incorrect.
This is a result of the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process, the quality of the text will depend upon the quality of the scanned image. In some cases words or characters will not be recognised resulting in spelling errors.

We maintain back editions for approx. 1 month after which they are destroyed
