The Torch Newspaper : the organ of the Kilkenny Workers Council

The Torch publication Edition 1 Volume 1 provides its aims and reason for launch;

"We are merely out to better our class, to uplift our fellows. It's a very commonplace reason but it has the merit of being the true one. To-day the cry is for work or maintenance at living rates and we are joining our small voice in the demand. The area of our influence will be very limited, but it maybe of some help at a time when every possible effort is being made to weaken Labour organisation in our midst.“
